Recently the In Country Tours team took a weekend out to visit the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, for some well-earned relaxation and fun time together.
A highlight of the visit was a boat trip around this stunning area of the Mekong, including a visit to the Cai Be floating market, Vietnam’s busiest and most vibrant floating market to see locals trading all kinds of colourful fruit and vegetables, from one boat to another. The trip also included visiting local Mekong families making popped rice and coconut candies.
Following this, the team took a trip in a traditional sampan boat through the many narrow canals and waterways around and in between the islands in the area, for an up-close-and-personal view of the scenery. The trip included a stop at Sau Ca, a beautiful garden house in the countryside, for a home-cooked, family-style Vietnamese lunch with fresh, local products.
Overnight the team stayed at the peaceful and very accommodating Nam Thanh Homestay, on tranquil An Binh Island, where they experienced more home-style hospitality and delicious Vietnamese meals.
